The Anima String Quartet was founded in 2000. In 2002 the Borsodi Music Festival was advertised by the quartet throughout the country. They debuted in the same year at the "Bartók+..." International Opera Festival, where they had opportunity to play six times since then - uniquely in the festival's history. Even the famous soprano Éva Marton praised their performance.

The ensemble toured on the exotic island of Mauritius in March 2004, where before them only one such formation played. They received a further invitation already after the first concert, so they returned to the island in the autumn of the same year. The quartet played already in the major cities of Hungary, and performed live in the Hungarian National Radio. In 2006 they gave two concerts at the "Chamber Music Summer" festival in Miskolc. In the same year, the Anima String Quartet gave first performance of Gábor Kerek's composition dedicated to the ensemble. The quartet plays regularly in Miskolc and in Eastern Hungary, in addition they often tour in Slovakia, Italy, Germany, Belgium,Ukraine and Switzerland. They had the pleasure of working with chamber music partners such as Zsolt Szatmári (clarinet), Liana Embovica and Carl-Martin Buttgereit (piano) and Éva Csapó (singer) among others.

The Anima String Quartet sets great value upon the musical education of the youth, they give numerous concerts a year at schools and kindergartens. The ensemble endeavors to keep up with the modern times by enriching their performances with multimedia elements occasionally.
